Case Study: Daryl Crothers – Flipping Crepes
A French crepe catering company that specialises in weddings, birthdays and private parties, as well as taking part in large and small-scale music and sports events throughout Northern Ireland.
Daryl set up his first stationary crepe stall a few years ago in a local shopping centre but the high rental costs meant he had to close. He approached Carrickfergus Enterprise in early 2014 with the view to opening a portable crepe bar as well as purchasing a catering trailer for outdoor events.
The main challenge for Daryl setting up was accessing finance as he had a very low credit rating. Carrick Enterprise helped him develop a robust business plan and financial projections to access loan funding from the Prince’s Trust and a NEETs grant from Invest NI.
Business is now thriving. He has recently opened a new crepe and milkshake bar in North Street, Carrickfergus. The Prince’s Trust recently recognised his success by awarding him the Regional Enterprise Award at its Celebrate Success event.
Carrickfergus Enterprise was my initial contact before writing my business plan. It was excellent and pointed me in the right direction for all the information I needed. It's great that it still takes an interest in my company and I still go there on a regular basis for help or information. I consider Carrickfergus Enterprise’s support an essential tool for any young person thinking about starting a business.
